Telephone & Data Cabling
From data to voice to video, we are your source for up to the minute standards in cabling. We had our start in the cabling business and in a sense, it remains our bread and butter.
- Our senior technicians regularly undergo intensive training to receive and maintain certification on current technologies.
- We use state of the art testing equipment by HP (Wirescope), Fluke and Wavetek to ensure that your lines are perfectly fault-free, be they high-tech fibre optic or regulation category 5e, 6, or 6e cable. (We are now also able to offer OTDR testing.)
Methodologies
Fibertel Communications Ltd. prides itself in doing jobs correctly from the beginning. Extensive planning is required to achieve this goal. Before you even contract us to do your wiring, we will conduct an on-site assessment and walkthrough with you to determine the following:
- Type of cable required, taking into careful account both your present needs and anticipated future needs
- The ideal location for the wiring centre
- Proposals for alternate designs and recommendations towards other possible cabling solutions
- A clear, concise quotation of costs and materials which we will stand behind, guaranteeing you no future surprises
Upon your acceptance of the terms outlined in our quotation, we begin our project planning in earnest. We will meet with you and your technical staff to discuss the particular requirements of your installation. In terms of scheduling the work to be performed, we are always very flexible in developing a timeline for completion that will keep your disruptions to a minimum.
Since the measure of success on any project ultimately lies in how well the job was performed, it is our utmost priority to perform our duties above and beyond simple "average or acceptable" quality. For your project, Fibertel will:
- Use industry standard cable and accessories that are trusted and appropriate for the particular application
- Perform duties efficiently to minimize any downtime for your staff
- Provide full identification to both ends of all lengths of cable
- Provide identification for all new outlets and patch panel locations
- Upon completion, test all cables for proper standard criteria
- Clean and tidy up all areas affected by installation process
The second most important part of a successful installation is the documentation detailing the work that was done. Before we leave you to your new system, we provide you with test reports (hardcopy or on electronic media) for all runs, and if required, a floor plan with all cables clearly identified.
Fibertel Communications is constantly striving to establish new partnerships with suppliers and manufacturers in an effort to obtain exclusive warranties for their customers. Depending on what sort of cabling system you are interested in, we can offer a variety of different warranties through reputable manufacturers.

Specialized Services
Over the years, Fibertel has established specialized expertise in significant areas, ranging from so-called "high tech" applications such as fibre optics and smart homes to standard network planning activities. Below are brief descriptions of just some of these specialized services.
OTDR Testing
An optical time domain reflectometer is an instrument used to test fiber optic lines. In response to increased requests for fiber installations and to accommodate related requirements for fiber optic testing, Fibertel purchased its own EXFO Mini-OTDR in 2004. As a result, we are now able to offer OTDR testing as a standard service — give us a call for current rates.
Smart Home Wiring
Smart homes are becoming a viable option for an increasing number of new home buyers. With state of the art wiring, your house will be properly outfitted for present and future office communications, home theatre sound, and computer controlled security. Wondering about price? On a general estimate, it will run you about 3% of your new home's total cost to wire up a common smart home.
If this is something that you would like to pursue, discuss it with us prior to the beginning of your home's construction phase so that we can get your requirements confirmed early. Some of our suppliers offer complete product lines dealing with smart homes. In terms of new home builders, we have worked with specific companies, but we can generally contract our services to any reputable builder of your choice.
